Police ID Pedestrian Killed By Truck In Monmouth County

Authorities have identified the pedestrian who was killed in Freehold on Tuesday, Jan. 9.

A spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said 61-year-old David Belcher was hit by a pickup on Route 9 South. No hometown for Belcher was given as of Thursday, Jan. 11.

Freehold Township police responded to the crash a few hundred feet north of the Route 9 interchange with New Jersey Route 33 just after 5:30 p.m.

Officers found Belcher lying in the road and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The 48-year-old male truck driver stayed at the site of the crash.

No charges or traffic summons have been issued in the crash. The Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team is helping the prosecutor's office and Freehold police with the investigation.
